TFP501

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP501

Please advse me on programing HDCP key into EEPROM connected to TFP501.

Can you please let me know if HDCP key is progrramed befor it is monted on the baord
or programmed after it is monted and gluded on a baord.

I suspect that the HDCP key should be programmed after the EEPROM is monted and gluded
on a board..

If it is true, how the HDCP key is programmed.
Is it programmed through DDC interface via TFP501?

Mita

  • Hello,

The EEPROM containing the HDCP keys could be programmed before or after mounted on the board.

You are probably confused with the EEPROM programming and the HDCP encryption process.

The HDCP keys have to be programmed on the EEPROM, no matter if it is before or after mounted on the board.

Once the TFP501 is powered up it will attempt to read the HDCP keys from the EEPROM, if they are valid then the TFP501 will read that content encrypt the keys and then write the encrypted keys back to the EEPROM.

    Regards.

  • Elias-san,

    Thank you for the answer.
    I understand it.

Please allow me to ask one more question.

When you program HDCP key mounted on the board, can you program
EEPROM from TFP501 via DDC interface?

  • Hello Mita-san,

    I don't understand the question.

Are you asking if is it possible to use the TFP501 to program the keys on the EEPROM? If so, then the answer is no.

The TFP501 doesn't use the DDC lines to read/write the Keys EEPROM.

The TFP501 neither uses the DDC lines to program the EDID EEPROM, the DDC lines on the TFP501 are used to configure the internal registers via i2c.

    Regards.

  • Elias-san,

    Tahnk you for the answer.

The your first sentence asnwers my question.
