TFP501 is not changed tuning in size?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP501

Dear TI engineer,

Can I get  TFP501 schematic review of TI?

Main Solution is raspb1258.TFP501 _sch.pdferry-pi (BCM chipset) with adding TFP501 in order to do LCD LVDS output.

completed not only HDMI working but also LVDS LCD panel displaing..

but problem is not changed tuning in size  from pane at all,

even changing HDMI input signal to 720P,1080P & 1080I.

system flow as below :

HDMI ->TFP501->TTL LEVEL -> DS90C387A-> LVDS

Is that any required addition setting for tuning size?

Best regards,

eric

  • Hello,

Can you elaborate more what do you mean by "...not changed tuning in size  from pane at all..." ?

    Are you using HDCP encryption?

The TFP501 is only a de-serializer so if the problem is that the image does not fill up all the screen size then you should check the panel specs, the EDID ROM.

Does the ODCK change when you select a different resolution?

Regarding the schematic, you are connecting both QE and QO buses, but you are selecting 1 pixel/clock by connecting PIXS to ground, according with the schematic you should connect PIXS to 3.3V

    Regards.

  • thank Quote,

Sorry for my mistyping... "pane" meaning is panel.

    Are you using HDCP encryption?

=> Not using HDCP so that is nothing data in EEPROM.

Does the ODCK change when you select a different resolution?

    =>  PIXS to 3.3V :  DFO - 0 PIXS - 1 OCK__INV - 0

clock is fixed to 3.71Mhz even if changing a resolution,

It's separated 4 parts output after changed PIXS mode 0 ->1 by attached picture.

Could you please check the attached panel Specs?

    =>

    7673.T215HVN01.0(AUO).pdf

=> Do you know how to set in this panel option?

    thanks,

    eric

  • Hello,

You say the clock is fixed to 3.71MHz, I guess that is a typo and you meant to say 37.1MHz, according to the panel datasheet, the minimum clock freq is 40MHz.

Changing the resolution should change the pixel clock, if you are not using the EEPROM I recommend to remove it or disable it by populating pull-downs on PROM_SCL/SDA

    Regards.

  • Thank Quote,

    I've test remove EEPROM and SCL/SDA pull-down with 10Kohm,

after that, the result is still  37.1Mhz clock that is not changed yet...

Do you have any other tip to check?

    thanks, eric.

  • There are no problems below normal case of connected HDMI direct.

when connected direct from HDMI Tx of this Board to HDMI Rx in monitor or others HDMI panel...

    thanks...

  • Do you know any options for this EEPROM setting?

    thanks...

  • Hello,

Change the pull-ups on DDC_SCL and DDC_SDA to 10K or place pull-downs if you are not using the I2C interface.

Does the HDMI signal contains audio? The TFP501 can't process HDMI signals with embedded audio.

    Connect terminal RSVD to Vcc.

    Regards.

  • Thank you for your guide,

But It's still not solved yet...

problem is not changed at all from default Setting...

how about the EEPROM options for changing a setting?

    best regards,

    eric.

  • Hello,

The EEPROM is not used for configuration, you can configure the TFP device with the strap pins or through I2C lines (DDC).

The device is pretty straight forward, if you are disabling the EEPROM and connecting it as your schematic it should work, you should see the pixel clock changing when the resolution changes. Check your voltage rails. Are you measuring at the TFP's output?

    Regards.
