Inquiry regarding connection method between DS90CR215 and DS90CR216

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90CR215, DS90CR216, DS15MB200

Hello, all

Now we have some inquiries regarding connection method between DS90CR215 and DS90CR216 from our customer.

Please refer to the items below, and feedback us with your comment.

1) We are going to use 18 parallel channels on these devices (3ch * 3 RGB colors), however due to the specification of TFT module, we need to make the system to synchronize on both vertical and horizontal clocks from TFT.

Please let us clarify whether we could use either of left 3 channels for this method.

2) Since we have 2 TFT modules on our system, we would like to use these devices as 1 Serializer to 2 Deserializer configuration, by means of multidrop. (Of Course, the RGB signal to be transmit into these 2 TFTs are same.)

Please let us clarify whether such above configuration could be allowed or not.

We thank you in advance for your information.

Best regards,

  • 1) Yes, you can use any of the leftover channels to transport your H and V signals to the TFT module,

    2) I would feel nervous about using the DS80CR215 and 'CR216 in a multidrop configuration - the devices were designed for point-to-point operation.   You could use two DS15MB200 chips to buffer the signals, so that the outputs of the DS90CR215 would go to the LI inputs on the DS15MB200, and then there are two outputs from the DS15MB200 available for each of the inputs, allowing a point to point connection to each of the TFT modules.

  • Multi-drop Channel Link applications can be very trick. Please be sure to consult AN-1109, now SNLA157.
