TCA9517 - Connection between the two TCA9517s.

Hello Team,

I am understanding that if TCA9517 is connected in series, side-B must NOT be connected to side-B of another device. How about connecting side-A and side-A of the two devices ? I believe this is not a problem.

Best Regards,

Kawai

  • Hi Kawai,

Thanks for the question. For TCA9517, the type of buffer design on the B-side will prevent it from being used with devices that have a static voltage offset. The reason for this is because the device does not recognize a buffered low signal as a valid low and won't send as a buffered low again.

With this in mind, you are correct in saying that the B-side must not be connected to another B-side. However, if you were to connect the A-side to another A-side, this would be possible because the A-side can be connected to any other buffer with a static OR dynamic offset. Your only limitation would be that you could only use two of these devices in series with an A-side to A-side connection.

    Thanks,
