TUSB8041 decoupling

My first idea was to put 0402 10nF decoupling caps on the same side as the IC, close to the power pins, but on the TUSB8041EVM and TIDA-00288 I see all the caps on the opposite side.

Is there a reason for this, or is it just for layout convenience ?

More precisely - can the caps close to the SS lines affect signal integrity ?

Hi Christophe,

The decoupling caps are placed on the bottom side of the TI boards for layout convenience. Many of our board layouts are able to accommodate a socket for internal validation testing and thus passive components are placed on the bottom layer. I would try to route the power planes away from the SS lines, but having the decoupling on the top layer should not be an issue.
