TPD4S009 vs TPD4E001

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD4S009, TPD4E001

Hi,

Let me ask you a question about the difference between TPD4S009 and TPD4E001.

Q1) I think the major difference is "protect diode" with/without, right?

Q2) I do not understand well what the porpose of Vcc-pin of TPD4E001 is?

Or it seems not to be good for system Vcc, I feel.

And it also needs 0.1uF capacitor close to Vcc...

Thanks for your support.

Best Regards,

  • Hello,

Q1)  Both devices have 4 protection diodes for data lines and 1 protection pin for a VCC rail

Q2)  The VCC pin is a protection pin that is used for protecting a VCC rail.

    • For TPD4S009 there is no need for a bypass capacitor on the VCC pin. Also, there is a blocking diode arranged so that voltage up to 5.5V can be applied to any data protection pin while there is no VCC applied without, without this blocking diode this would not be possible because one of the ESD protection diodes on the data lines would breakdown at about 0.7V and sink current to the VCC rail. This is unique to TPD4S009 in our product line.
    • TPD4E001 requires a 0.1 uF capacitor on the VCC pin, regardless if it is connected to a VCC Rail.

Here is a table that shows the difference in specifications for these two devices:

Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Guy-san,

    Thank you for your reply!
