Dear Sirs,
our company (MM Solutions AD, www.mm-sol.com) is providing dedicated EPD (Electronic Paper Display) solution implemented on DSP/ARM/NEON - for example Barnes and Noble Nook Touch, Glow, etc are using our solution with TI OMAP3621 SOC). Currently we have large volume customer for dual display (EPD+TFT) mobile phone, using eInk display (1280x960). Currently we use Atmel SAM3 micro for this design and it works fine, but for various reasons we would like to check the possibility to replace it with TI device.
The sustained bit rate is in 200Mbps range and the display interface is very similar to typical parallel LCD interface with 4 bits paralel data and several latching signals pretty much like HSYNCH signal in parallel display interface. Currently we use the SAM3 part where we connect the EPD display interface to local memory bus on the device and use internal timer for generating the correct timing. From SW perspective the operation is very simple - we use few endpoints in bulk mode to receive the data and data are DMA'ed stright from end-point memory to local bus. No processing is done on the micro-controller - all display rendering is done on host.
We think TI TUSB6250 device can do quite similar job, connecting the display to IDE interface. But we dont have experience with this part, and we are looking for FAE to discuss the feasibility of this idea before we invest more efforts for prove of concept and commesrcial discussions.
