TRS3223-Q1: VOH/OL in case of no load

Part Number: TRS3223-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRS232E

Dear Support team

I have a question regarding the drive voltage range of RS232 production.

In case of TR3223, I could find the specification of VOH/OL as below.

VOH : High-level output voltage (DOUT at RL = 3 kΩ to GND, DIN = GND) : Min 5V, Typ 5.4 V

VOL : Low-level output voltage (DOUT at RL = 3 kΩ to GND, DIN = VCC) : Min –5V, Typ –5.4 V

How level are VOH/OL in case of no load?

Since V+ and V- are defined as below, I guess VOH/OL may be less than +/-7V.

ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGS

V+ : Positive output supply voltage range –0.3 to 7 V

V– : Negative output supply voltage range 0.3 to –7 V

We want VOH/OL will be over +/-8V.

Should we select the devices needing power supply for driver in that case?

Best regards,

Hiro Takahashi

  • Hiro san,

TRS3223-Q1 unloaded DOUT is nearly the same as loaded because the charge pump is regulated.

The TRS202 and TRS232E have higher DOUT because the 5V charge pump is unregulated for close to double voltage.
Other than that the 3 supply pin device will have higher DOUT when run from +/-12V

Is Q1 device needed? Is this application RS-232 based?
  • Hi Ronald-san

    Thanks for your information.

Q1 is nice to have and temp range must be required as -40~+85C.

The application is based on RS232.

I’ll suggest TRS202/202E to my customer.

    Best regards,

    Hiro Takahashi
