DS90UB964-Q1EVM: Can't see any pattern generation / BIST

Part Number: DS90UB964-Q1EVM

Hello,

I got DS90UB964-Q1EVM and using LaunchPAD app to test the chip.

Currently I'm trying to run test pattern generation and BIST using the "Pattern Generation" or I2C via "Scripting" tab in app but i don't see any test running.

Seems like im missing some basics, can you please advise?

Thanks

  • Hi Anton,

Which serializer to you have it hooked up to? 913, 933?

Pattern Gen/ BIST are link fidelity tests, if you don't have the 964 deserializer hub hooked up to a serializer then you won't have anything happen.

    Regards,
  • I don't have any serializer hooked to it.

After taking a look at datasheet of B964 i saw in part 8.5.7 that: "An optional At-Speed Built-In Self Test (BIST) feature supports testing of the high speed serial link and the back
channel without external data connections" so it looked like there was no need in serializer.

Can you please advice me with a specific deserializer  that can run Pattern Gen/BIST without the need of serializer ?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Anton,

"An optional At-Speed Built-In Self Test (BIST) feature supports testing of the high speed serial link and the back
channel without external data connections" means that you don't need an SoC/Processor nor an Imager in order to test the High Speed Serial Link (aka FPD-Link channel, FCC). Normally an ADAS based setup looks like the following:

    (Camera/Imager) --->  Serializer (eg 913/933) ---> Deserializer (eg 964) ---> SoC

When we say no external data connections it means that you don't have to have either end of the above connected to test the link fidelity.

You can still use the Pattern Generation feature if you wish to test the CSI-2 link between the Deserializer and your SoC. Instructions and example code is found in section 8.5.6 of the datasheet. However BIST is only relevant for testing the FPD-Link channel portion between a serializer and deserializer, both the FCC and BCC of that high speed channel.

    Regards,

  • Thanks Michael for your answer.

Correct me if i'm wrong, i still can connect Deserializer without the Serializer and run the Pattern Generation to test my SoC

. In addition can i arrange an online meeting with you to get more information?

    Thanks,

    Anton

  • Hi Anton,

Yes, that's correct. You can just use the deseralizer connected to your SoC and run pattern generation (8.5.6 of the DS) in order to test the CSI-2 link.

I believe Miles is your local TI rep and he's currently working to setup a support line for you guys.
