Team,

I have a customer who is looking at using the DS92LV2421, but wanted to know the following:

"If I use this part in the system, can it work for an isolated system?

Consider the following example:

I connect two boards using this part, but the grounds are not tied. I'm also using two different power sources that are isolated from each other. Would this device work for this isolated scheme?"

Hi Carolus,

The DS92LV2421/DS92LV2422 serial communication is via CML that requires a 100nF ac-coupling capacitor. This should eliminate any question about not having the same ground reference. The device should work in this isolated scheme, and assumes a dc-balanced signal pattern.
