MAX3232E-Q1: min, max value of input hysterisis

Guru 29690 points
Part Number: MAX3232E-Q1

Hi Team,

Is there any data that shows the value of (3) ~ (6)?
My customer wants to know these values as a reference.

I believe there isn't because the specification doesn't show these values however would like to confirm just in case.

Best Regards,

  • Yaita,

In applications the maximum value of Vit+ and the minimum value of Vit- matter most. For example, if the input voltage is zero, RX output stays high. As the input rises higher, RX output will toggle at some point around 2V. But RX output is guaranteed to become low until the input goes higher than 2.4V. In other words RX output is not reliable until input reaches maximum Vit+. Therefore it's common that min Vit+ and max Vit- are not documented on the datasheet.

The hysteresis function is integrated in the receiver to prevent false triggering due to instability or noisy conditions of the input signal. Even we knew the range of hysteresis, the receiver output status would still be governed by Vit+ and Vit- rather than the hysteresis value, since the actual threshold of the receiver varies. Hope these make sense to you. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,
