DP83848K: Eval Kit questions

Part Number: DP83848K

Customer is using the DP83848K-MAU-EK eval board and is having problems communicating with the device over the MDIO interface.

We noticed the User Guide refers to non-existing components in the Usage set-up section, snippet shown below.  Note reference to 3.3V from MII connector and R32.  Eval board does not supply VCC through MII connector and there is no R32.  The assumption is that 3.3V must be supplied by the J10 input and these notes are errors. Please confirm.

Is there anything else in the EK configuration that could be impacting the MDIO communication?

  • Hi Mark,

Do you have an image of the board the customer has? I think there were a few versions of the board and the MII connector is now obsolete.

How is the customer using the EVM? Is it sitting on a bench with 3.3V connected to J10?

Where are the MDIO and MDC wires being connected to the EVM?

    Best Regards,
  • Hi Rob,
Customer reported that they figured out their error. They had a pin-strap option incorrect.
I did not confirm which PCB they have, but they received it just a few weeks ago, so it should be the same as what is currently offered in the TI eStore.
