SN65DP159: Top Marking - Date Code information

Part Number: SN65DP159

Where can I find the date code andTop Marking details for SN65DP159 devices?

I understand that there were some issues with Early Silicon related to TX output Skew that was manufactured before November of 2015.

  • Hi Rick,

The date code will be the two digits after "TI" on the top side marking.  First digit is the year and the second digits is the month.  The early silicon with the issue were pre-production samples, not production silicon that would have been ordered from TI.

How do I visually identify Pre-Production parts vs Production parts?
  • In reply to Rick LeBlanc:

    Hi Rick,

You will need to use the date code to differentiate the devices. If the date code is prior to "5B" it is pre-production.

Please point me to the DP159 Top Marking documentation so I can decipher which of the various markings on the IC lid are the date code.

I searched TI.com but came up empty on my quest.

Also, please confirm that all date codes including 5B and beyond do not have any know erratum and are Production Silicon?

  • In reply to Rick LeBlanc:

    Rick,

The date code should be on the second line, next to the "TI". I can post a photo tomorrow, which package are you using?

All date codes after 5B are production units without erratum.

    JMMN,

We are using the SN65DP159RGZ (VQFP 48 pins).

So, am I to assume TI does not make any 'offical/public' top marking documentation available for this device?

    Thanks,
    -Rick

    Hi Rick,

There is a general package marking application note, but I'm having trouble finding the link.   The device below is from April 2017 (TI 74I) .
