UCC5390: why UCC5390 can handle 10A drive current with the same package with UCC5320

Part Number: UCC5390
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC5320,

Hi,

I wonder if the internal MOSFET has lower Rds for UCC5390 than UCC5320.

Otherwise, with the same drive current, there will be the same power dissipation for both devices, and then will UCC5390 be over heat with 10A drive current?

  • Hello Howard,

Table 1 on the UCC5390 datasheet has the on resistance values for the internal MOSFETs.

You are correct. The UCC5390 has lower Rds compared to the UCC5320. The drive capability is due to the MOSFET sizing rather than the package.

I hope this answered your question. If so, please press the green button.
