[FAQ] How to Enable DSxxxDFxxx to Lock to Any Data Rate within VCO Range

Part Number: DS280DF810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SIGCONARCHITECT

In this example, we use a non-standard data rate - for example 24.33Gbps - and configure register settings to lock to this data rate. Note: Data rate MUST be within the device VCO range.

  • SigconArchitect software computes register settings for non-standard data rates. SigconArchitect software can be even in demo mode and it will computes register settings for non-standard data rates.

Here is how to do this:
    1). Open SigconArchitect
    2). Go to CDR tab
    3). Enable Manual Mode
4). After entering data rate - for example a non-standard data rate like 24.33Gbps - this GUI computes register values for Reg 0x60 through 0x67.
5). Go to low level and note reg 0x60 through reg 0x67.
6). These are the values needed to enable the device to lock to non-standard data rates like 24.33Gbps
