TPD2E007: Use of our TPD2E007 with higher protection voltage

Part Number: TPD2E007
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD4E001, TPD1E10B09

Hello all,

my customer wants to use our TPD2E007 with a higher protection voltage of 10V.

See attached picture. Is this possible?

Best regards

Egon

  • Hello,
I am a little confused, are you saying the diode should breakdown at 10 volts or should clamp at 10V?
Also the TPD2E007 is only a two channel device not four like the picture
  • Hello,
my fault, customer wants to use several TPD4E001DBVR in their system. But the protection voltage from this device is too low.
So I send him the data-sheet from our TPD2E007, but his protection voltage is too high. In the meantime I have the feeling my customer missunderstand the behaivior of our protection device.
I will call him and if I got more informations I will come back to you.

    Best regards

    Olaf
  • Hallo all,

in the meantime i got following additional input: My customer wants to use our TPD4E001 with a power supply voltage of 9V.
Therefore he ask for the max. breakdown voltage of or zener diode. What my customer also need is the max. forward current for our zener diode.

    Best regards

    Olaf

  • Olaf,

The TPD2E007 doesn't need a supply voltage it only sits on the signal line and ground.

Here we have information about ESD Essentials and help picking the correct part.

  • Hi Cameron,

special thanks for your quick answer. My question was about our TPD4E001. Here we specify in the datasheet an Absolute Maximum Rating for the Vcc

of 7V. My customer wants to use 9V as a power supply and ask for max. breakdown voltage and the max. forward current of our zener diode nothing about ESD.

    Best regards

    Olaf

  • The absolute maximum rating says that you must not apply a voltage larger than 7 V for longer timer periods. (Only short ESD events are allowed to go higher.)

And figure 5 shows that the TPD4E001 is still active at about 9 V.

    The TPD1E10B09 is designed for 9 V.
