I too faced similar kind of MAX3232 heating and drawing 450mA of current in MAXIM MAX3232 product.
In my BOM I have both TI and MAXIM products as alternate and EMS vendor can select either of them based on availability and pricing.
This problem happens randomly, sometimes it works fine and on next power reset behaves abnormaly.
So far didn't faced any issue with TI product, but just to be sure I am attaching an image of the marking on IC which I am using. Please tell me whether this is a genuine TI product or not?
