DS125BR800: READ_EN -> ALL_DONE

Part Number: DS125BR800

While creating a PCIe x8 reDriver Card, i want to use two DS125BR800 chips: one for TX and second one for RX channels.
Both chips should read Equalization Info from on-board EEPROM. According Application Report SNLA228 (Page 4), to eliminate conflicts with EEPROM, i should connect ALL_DONE of the first DS125BR800 with READ_EN of the second DS125BR800.

The question is: should I connect ALL_DONE with READ_EN directly, or should i use a transistor to create a transition from high to low (Page 4 of the Datasheet DS125BR800 says, that "When using an External EEPROM, a transition from high to low starts the load from the external EEPROM")?

Thank you for response.

  • Hi Oleksandr,

    The ALL_DONE output will create the transition by itself, no external transistor is needed.  It will go high during power-up and then transition to "low" when the device has completed EEPROM load.  Allowing the next device to start.

    Regards,
