Hi Sirs,

We have an issue when our system under high voltage (8KV~15KV) test by EMC.

We used a 60W USB-C adapter to provide power to the system, we found the USB-C port will be lost AC power a second than recovery connection when EMC testing.

May I know this behavior is high-voltage OVP protection for TPD8S300?

Hi Henry,
TPD8S300 provides OVP protection on the CC and SBU lines. If the voltage seen on these lines exceeds the threshold, it will be clamped at around 8V for around 70ns, after which the OVPFET in the TPD8S300 will open while fault condition persists. TPD8S300 OVPFETs being open will hide the pulldown resistors on the system side, causing VBUS on system side to be removed. When fault condition is removed, CC line contract negotiation will start again due to appearance of pull down resistors to determine VBUS, similar to what you experience in your test.
