In a USB-C docking application, where display-port is only available through USB-C connectors and no traditional DP connectors, we are planning on using TUSB1064 on the UFP to sink the data from the notebook and the TUSB1046A-DCI on the DFP to source the data to a monitor.

Is this a configuration that would work?

The design of the 10G-EXPANSION-EVM looks like it has the two MUX-redrivers in the opposite way.

Do you plan to mux USB and DP over Type C? What is the connection between the doc and monitor, is it also going to be Type C?

Hello David,

Yes. Power, SuperSpeed USB and DP(2 lanes) will be available over the Type C.

We want to MUX the superspeed lines and use one of them for DP and the other one for ethernet over usb.

This will only happen between these two ports, so no USB-hub is needed.

All the connections from the docking station will be Type C.

Then your top level connection block diagram is correct. How do you plan to do Ethernet over USB?

Ethernet will be available through an RJ45 connector which will go into an ethernet switch. USB to ethernet controllers will be used per USB-C port and all the ethernet lines will be routed to the ethernet switch.

So the super-speed signals that come from the TUSB1064(sink) and TUSB1045(source) will first go through the USB to ethernet controller and from there to the ethernet switch.
