TCAN332EVM: How to Setup of TCAN332EVM with split termination and normal mode operation

Part Number: TCAN332EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN332, SN65HVD1050

Hi,team.

I want to operate TCAN332EVM with split termination and nomal mode.
i have 3 question.

①How should I set JMP 6?

②I think , I can operate split temination mode with only implement 60Ω in R7 and R15, 4.7nF in C4 .
is this right?
2.1.11 in User's Guide say [If the device and application support split termination the JMP6...].
Are there conditions other than R7, R15, C4 to operate with split termination?

③what does mean Table 5. in User's guide ,  Device pin No.5 ?
In datasheet of TCAN 33x, pin No.5 has NC/SHDN/FAULT function.
What is Vref/SPLIT?
If I want to operate split termination mode , should i think about Vref/SPLIT?

  • Hello,

    #1:
For JMP 6, this jumper gives flexibility to the EVM in order to support multiple devices that have differing Pin 5 functions. For the TCAN332, Pin 5 is a No Connect (NC), and so JMP6 will have no effect on operation regardless of the jumper position. If there is a digital input at Pin 5, such as Shutdown (SHDN), then you can implement the 4.7 k-ohm pull-up if you want.
If you implement an SN65HVD1050 device on the EVM, then this device has a reference voltage output on Pin 5 (VREF), and JMP6 should be set to the VREF position.

It looks like you are just using the TCAN332 device, and so in your case Pin 5 is a No Connect and JMP6 can be left in any position.

    #2:
Yes, you may implement 60-ohm resistors for R7 and R15, with 4.7nF for C4. As long as JMP4 and JMP5 are disconnected, you will operate with split termination.

    #3:
As I said previously, the User's Guide and the TCAN33XEVM allows for flexibility with multiple devices with various functions. VREF/SPLIT is only used for devices with that functionality at Pin 5, like the SN65HVD1050 device. In your case, this isn't needed.

    Does that help?
