Hi Kim,

Are you asking how to program the EEPROM or connect the EEPROM to TUSB8020B such that TUSB8020B can read the EEPROM in I2C mode? If you are asking how to program the EEPROM we have a EEPROM programmer that could help you.

I created a circuit with reference to TUSB8020BPHPEVM Schematic,

but it does not work. Ask if you need to put binaries in eeprom or just usb hub operation through dip sw control.

Hi Kim,

TUSB8020B should not need to be programmed when powered up into I2C mode. When you say your board does not work could you describe the failing condition?

I would start with using the default state of TUSB8020B first to debug this issue and then customize your implementation with TUSB8020B register values. Could you post your schematic for review?

Hi Kim,

I will review the attached schmatic. Please ensure that the DIP swithc is in the correct position such that TUSB8020B is in I2C mode and that when testing HD3SS460 is in the correct configuration.

How to enter i2c mode tusb8020b ?

As you suggest i cheked the status of the switch.

SW1_1 (on): FULLPWRMGMTZ_SMBA1_SS Switch

SW1_2 (off): PWRCTL_POL_SS_DN1 Switch

SW1_3 (off): SMBUSz_SS_DN2 Switch.

SW1_4 (on): GANGED_SMBA2_HS Switch

SW1_5 (off): SCL_SMBCLK Switch

SW1_6 (off): SDA_SMBDAT Switch

SW1_7 (off): PWRCTL1_BATEN1 Switch.

SW1_8 (off): PWRCTL2_BATEN2 Switch

This pin should be used pulled high to enter I2C Mode. Please use a 4.7k pull -up resistor on the SMBus/SS_DN2 pin to enter I2C mode. Can you measure the voltage on this pin when reset is released?
