SN65HVD233: Termination resitor when 5V and 3.3V CAN operating on the same bus

Part Number: SN65HVD233

Hi team,

I'd like to know whether the value of the termination resitor need to change or not when 5V CAN and 3.3V CAN operating on the same bus together

I think we don't need to change the 120 ohm resistor. Is it correct?

Regards,

Yoshi

  • Hello Yoshi-san,

You are correct that the termination resistance will not need to change. With 120-Ohm termination resistances, either a 3.3-V or 5-V transceiver will be able to meet the differential output amplitude required by ISO 11898-2.
