My customer consider to use Level-Shifting I2C Bus Repeater,
Because the cable length will more than 1M, would you please help to check if we use this parts can support how long cable length?
Can you provide me with some background information?
1. What is the Vcc range?
2. How far do you need to communicate?
3. Max frequency range?
4. Is there a temperature you are trying to insure this device works at? (I see you mention Q1)
Also for my own knowledge:
A. What is the end equipment / application? (Are you trying to avoid EMI emissions for example?)
My quick estimate on the cable length would be about 8 meters. (This device supports 400pF and a meter of cable has around 50pF so 400/50=8)
There are some concerns on how you implement this kind of design.
two TCA9517's should not be connected B side to B side.
You may want to include a small series resistor on the cable side.
Consider using schottky diodes to protect the device for undershoots due to the cable's inductance.
