DS90UB962-Q1: Deserializer Hub COAX/STP mode switching.

Hello. I have a question about COAX/STP mode switching on ds90ub9620-q1.

Table 124 of datasheet says that PORT_CONFIG Register (Address 0x6D) field is "Reserved". What does it actually means and how can i switch betwen COAX and STP, ever by programming or straps?

Hi Arseniy,

The PORT_CONFIG register is reserved because the deserializer is differential by nature. There's nothing that needs to be programmed on the software side to configure for coax or stp, as long as your hardware is configured correctly with the recommended AC coupling caps and termination (if using coax mode).

Hi Arseniy,

In the datasheet (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ds90ub962-q1.pdf), there's a section called Typical Application. There are two example schematic configurations: coaxial and STP. You can just follow the hardware section described there.
