please help to check application.

I have 3 TLk10232 and work with DS125Df1610.

2 chip send prbs pattern to each other, the 3rd TLK10232 just monitor signal.

When I turn On 3rd chip prbs detector, the register 0x10 will be error free. When I turn off it, it will always show"ff". when TLK10232 send out pattern, does other chip can just detect 8B/10B coding or not?

If it can do it, how to program the register.

Hello Cannie,

Where do you have the DS125Df1610 placed (on your diagram)? What do you exactly do to turn on/off the detector on the 3rd chip?

Hi,

Ds125Df1610 equal to wire. I use it multicast mode to test it. I just use TLK10232 reg B bit 11 to turn on/off detector. I use 2^7-1.Both end 0x3D10, detector side use 0x1d10.

(card 1 TLK --> DS 1A---> Ds 1B ) (card 2 DS 0A --> DS 0A --> DS 0B -->DS 1B) --> (card1 DS 0A --> DS 0B TLK (Bert))

(card2 mulicast from DS 0A ---> DS 0B --->TLK (moitor))

Ds --> Ds125Df1610

tlk --> TLk10232

Hi,

If I use 10.312G, the counter is OK. But I use general 10G mode, the counter does not work.

Hello,

In principle, this (monitoring) may work, but you may get errors initially when you start monitoring. However, I am still not sure about your configuration. On your visio diagram, can you please number the TLKs and refer to which one you are talking about by number and also indicate on the diagram where the DS125DF1610 chips are?

Hello,

Thanks for providing the detailed diagram. It is a little clearer what you are trying to do in general. However, I don't know what you mean by "reg B bit 11 to turn on/off detector". Can you please use the same terminology and full register names/numbers as in the datasheet? Are you setting the PRBS_EN pin?

Hello Cannie,

Based on your document, you are setting Reg. B bit 12 (not 11!) to “turn on detector”.

At any rate, to answer the question in your document, PRBS verifier is ahead of 8B/10B decoder (please see Figure 7-2 in the datasheet). If you don't turn on the verifier, then PRBS data (which wasn’t 8B/10B encoded) will go through the 8B/10B decoder and will result errors.

Hello,

The PRBS generator is as shown in Fig 7-2. it is actually "after" the encoder (i. e. the generated pattern doesn't go through the encoder).

Does PRBS generator will pass through encoder? If it is true, 0x10 8B/10B detector should error free.

Hello,

Please look at Fig 7-2. As you can see, at the transmitter, PRBS is generated and transmitted without encoding, and at the receiver, received PRBS is verified without decoding.
