TUSB8041-Q1: when Ganged power switch is useful?

Part Number: TUSB8041-Q1

could you tell me in what kind of use case the Ganged power switch control is useful? please tell me advantage/disadvantage of it.

  • Hi,

The Ganged power switching feature is useful when all Vbus power path should be on or off at the same time (this is only done when the USB Hub is configured for to enable power switching). One instance this can be useful is if the application is battery powered and system/USB Host wants to enter low power mode and disable power/charging to all USB ports at the same time. This also applies to over-current conditions where the over-current condition is handled for all ports simultaneously. This feature is an optional feature and not required by USB spec. If implemented care should be taken to ensure Vbus is removed in the correct conditions. Does this answer your question?
