AM26LS32AC: AM26LS32AC Termination and Pull-up

Part Number: AM26LS32AC

Hi E2E,

Good day!

A customer of mine would like to know the following:

1) Is the termination resistor is required, as section 9.2 discussed that this device might be possible to work even without termination.
2) Pull-up resistor value for G pin

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Franz

  • Hi Franz,

The termination resistance is not required for the device to function, but it can be beneficial to improve signal integrity in some cases (depending on the cable length, data rate, etc.).  You can read more about termination in this blog:

It references RS-485 in particular, but the same concepts would apply to most interfaces that use transmission media (like cables) whose propagation delays can be long with respect to the timing properties of the signal.

As for the pull-up value on the G pin, you could reference the center diagram in Figure 15 of the datasheet.  Let me know if you have any further questions, though.

    Regards,
    Max
