TPS65988DJ: TPS65988DJ sink question

Part Number: TPS65988DJ
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65988

Hi Team

I have use TPS65988DJ in our system. The power is DRP ( output 5V and input 20V ).

If i have 45W(20V@2.25A) and 60W(20V@3A) , I just want use 60W Type C adaptor.

Can I use PD FW to choose right adaptor?

  • Hi Kerr,

You can set the MultiPort Sink Policy in Global System Configuration (0x27) to "Only Highest Power sink path closes switch". This will make sure that the TPS65988 will only enable the sink switch of the highest power.

    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Hi Eric

Sorry , let you confuse. I want conector 45W or 60W Type C adaptor on the same port.

When I connector 60W Type C adaptor , PD can be sink 20V , If I connector 45W Type C adaptor , The PD will be sink 5V or did not support this Type C adaptor.

May I setting sink Operating Current for this function ?

  • Hi Kerr,

Yes, you can adjust the sink operating current to allow for it to select the 45W adapter. You can also enable the "Ask For Max" setting to ensure that it will always request the maximum power from the adapter.

    Thanks,
    Eric
