TCA9406: Select Rise/fall time

Part Number: TCA9406

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

We have use TCA9406 on I2C signal for 1.8v to 3.3v.

However, since we are set to OE = 1, so only the function of the Internal PU can be used.

Now we try to make parallel external resistors and increase the capacitance of the ground to change IC's Rise/fall time

But found that can not meet I2C spec.

So we would like to check how to change the IC's Rise/fall time

Our schematic and attached file of the measured waveform as below,

Port A is 1.8V and Port B is 3.3V.

The capacitor is added at the end, such as the waveform name of 39p/220p.

Waveform purple signal is SDA, green is SCL

  • Hey Shu,

You are trying to meet the fall time for the 39pF side correct? The 220pF side looks like it should be meeting the I2C spec for falling.

You can slow down the falling time on the 39pF side if you add a small series resistor (maybe 20 ohms or so). Is that an option for you?
