DS90UB954-Q1: FPD Link Signal & POC Power Isolated Solution

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi

I need some advice about Isolated FPD Link .

Because of MOPP requirement , I need isolate FPD Link (Coaxial) signal & POC Power from other  parts. The apply part GND is floating

Here is plan:

POC power : Flyback isolate isolated power.

Signal : 10G Lan transformer(TDK ALT4532H)

Is it possible to work?

  • Hi Larson,

Sorry, this transformer is NOT recommended for FPD-Link channel. As you know, the 10GE has special modulation and 4pairts are used in the PHY layer while FPD-Link selects NRZ modulation and has higher data bandwidth request in the transmission channel than 10GE PHY. From the TDK ALT4532H spec. in the website, it is NOT recommended for ub953/954 link.

    regards,

    Steven

  • Hi Steven

If I can find a component that able to transfer FPD-Link data bandwidth

Is it recommend separate GND for single end signal ? (and with Power over coax )

I modify schematic diagram as attached .(change 50 ohm form primary to secondary side)

or any better way to isolated FPD-Link and working fine?

  • Larson,

pls be careful that the transformer here would impact the high speed signal SI greatly, you need assess this evaluation in the whole link.

regarding GND, make sure the high speed signal is referring to GND, if you have isolated GND, make sure they are referred each other.
