Hi Team,
Can you help my customer?
"We have a custom-designed ethernet board using DP83848VV VBI (as written on top of the chip) and struggling to ping (RMII Mode) using uC.
I measured all the voltages as several points and are as follows:
1) RX_DV - 3.3V
2) PFBOUT, PFBIN1, and PFBIN2 - 1.8V
3) RBIAS - 1.2V
4) Clock Frequency - 50 MHz.
I can read/write the register and checked that the chip is in RMII mode. When the ethernet cable is connected to the RJ45, LED_LINK is stable and LED_ACT blinks. I performed a BIST test using external loopback cable and readings are as follows:
1) Write BMCR = 0x2100
2) Write BMCR = 0x6100
3) Read PHYSTS = 0x0D
4) Read PHYCR = 0x060D
5) Write PHYCR = 0x8021
6) Read PHYCR = 0x8321.
Even though the test passed, I am not getting it to ping. Moreover, I am sending some data through Ethernet into the loopback cable and I can see some signals from the transmitting and receiving side of the uC. So one thing is confirmed that there is no failure in connection from uC -> DP83848 -> RJ45 ->Loopback cable -> RJ45 -> DP83848 -> uC. But, I am not sure whether the problem is on the transmitting side or receiving side or both?
Where am I making a mistake?
"
Thank you,
Franz
