DS90LV001: Why is Receiver Input Voltage Higher than Quad Channel Device?

Part Number: DS90LV001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90LV804

Hi team,

Why DS90LV001 receiver input voltage is higher than that of DS90LV900?

Could you please also tell me other major difference in terms of electrical performance?

Is there any concern if my customer use DS90LV001 x4 instead of DS90LV900?

Regards,

Itoh

  • Hi Itoh,

The receiver voltage of the two part numbers (DS90LV001 and DS92LV090) I believe you are looking at should be very similar.  They are both "LVDS" devices which share many common features.

In this case they both have receiver input thresholds of +/- 100mV.  What type of input voltage are you asking about?

The biggest differences between these two devices are listed below.

    1. DS90LV001 is designed to operate at a higher datarate.  So the output will have a faster edge rate.

    2. DS90LV090 is designed to drive multiple loads so the output edge rate is slower and the drive current is higher.

  • Hi Lee-sn,

My appogies, I posted wrong part#. Actually I mean DS90LV804.

    - DS90LV804: LVDS Input Voltage(2) −0.3V to (VDD+0.3V)

    - DS90LV001: LVDS Receiver Input Voltage (IN+, IN−) −0.3V to +4V

This looks very different. Where is this difference coming from?

  • Hi Itoh-san,

The DS90LV804 and DS90LV001 have different ESD structures.  The DS90LV001 ESD solution allows the input voltage to exceed VDD without forward biasing a diode and allowing for a large current flow.  So the maximum specification is written as an absolute voltage instead of a voltage with respect to VDD.

When the devices are powered up the limits are very similar.

    For example VDD = 3.3V

    DS90LV804  -0.3V to 3.6V

    DS90LV001  -0.3V to 4.0V

  • Hi Lee-san,

    Thank you.

My customer is looking for LVDS buffer which can accept LVDS input while power down. My customer considers to use DS90LV001 x4 instead of DS90LV804. Please refer to this thread for my customer's requirement. Is DS90LV001 good LVDS buffer which can accept LVDS input  while power down?

    Regards,

    Itoh

  • Hi Itoh-san,

Yes the DS90LV001 can accept a LVDS signal when the VCC = 0V.

The LVDS Receiver specifications of this product indicate it is a good product for this type of application.

  • Lee-san,

    Perfect. Appreciate your help!
