TPD12S520: ESD protection testing

Part Number: TPD12S520
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: STRIKE

Hi all,

I'm trying to identify whether I need to perform transient voltage testing on two different components as part of a Lightning Strike Protection test scheme or whether I can provide justification for not testing this functionality based of off TI's quality control for the parts.

The parts in question are:

TPD12S520DBTR Single-Chip HDMI Receiver Port Protection and Interface Device

TPD12S521DBTR Single-Chip HDMI Transmitter Port Protection and Interface Device

What I would like to know about both parts:

What type of quality control does TI perform to ensure the ESD protection works, especially the transient voltage suppression aspect? I.e. is it a batch sample, every component, etc?

What size pulse (pulse width, pulse peak, etc) would be needed to non-destructively test that the ESD protection is there?

Best regards,

Peter F.
