Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987D
Dear team,
I wonder if TPS25820 could get power supply from Type C Vbus 5V, not use its own power supply, let OUT as NC, only use CC pin to detection?
Thanks.
Best regards,
Sammi

Hi Sammi,
The TPS25820 is a source and cannot be a sink. In order to be a sink, the TPS25820 would need to assert Rd on its CC pins. The device is unable to do this as it is a source only, so it would not be able to receive 5 V from the Type-C VBUS. This configuration is not possible using the TPS25820.
The TPS65987D is able to be a dual role port (DRP), meaning it can be a source or a sink.
Thanks,
Emma
Hi Emma,
Many thanks for your response.
Except TPS65987D, do we have other CC logic IC recommend? The specific requirement for customer is: support type-C vbus supply 5V power, no other power IC need; positive insert and negative insert detection.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Sammi
Hi Sammi,
We do not have a non-PD Type-C sink controller. Our PD controllers in the TPS6598x family are able to be a sink or a source, and are your best choice if you are looking for a Type-C controller that can be a sink.
Both the TPS25820 and the TPS6598x family have cable orientation detection.
Thanks,
Emma
