I made some more test , I use the DRP project Power source.

but I get some problem .

The evaluation board is power up by the 20 power supply. I plug the smarphone on the USB-C type . The smartphone charge ( good !) .

I switch off the 20V power supply the smarphone change mode and become source . but when I plug back the 20 power supply the smartphone didn't charge again.

In the same time on the debug mode the port configuration is now UFP , and also all the register change see below.

I change the project example by adding a 0x1 at the customer user word 1, and when I unplug the power supply on the debug mode I read 0x0 in this field !!!

It is like when swap between source to sink the component reset with another configuration.

I measure P3V3 you can see the graph below..

Hi David,

When the Adapter is removed from the EVM (EVM powered by Smartphone), the PD controller will switch to DeadBattery mode (Register 0x2d:2). PD controller will continue its operation in DeadBattery mode until you clear bootflag by sending DBfg 4CC command(after connecting the Barrel Jack adapter back). 

Please try the project file attached-  87DDJ_ConsumerProvider.pjt Will there be an EC in your end product to issue 4CC command(DBfg)?

thank you for your help, I'm goign to test right now.

But I can open or import your project because it is done with GUI6.2 and not for the component TPS65987.

do you think I can get the last gui and could you manage to change the project for my device ?

See "Dead Battery Flag True (0x1)" below, it true. You need to clear this flag. Make sure that Register Port Control (0x29)  Field Initiate Swap to source is enabled in  your project file (as shown in fig below)

Hi,

I get the problem , it si the debug FTDI usb cable. If is connected during the power off of the 20V power supply some think wrong happen on the TPS65987D and the it spot working. If I plug the FTDI /USB cable debug only when I need to clear the flag dead battery the system work .

On the my project it is not possible to clear the flag dead battery. Could we do by another way.

For example I know when I have the 20V power supply ,it is possible with a GPIO or some think else to clear the flag when the power supplu is plugged ?
