Part Number: TPS65987EVM

Hello,

Function block diagram:

The configuration was as follows:

The EVM worked as source when the PPHV2 of the EVM was connected to the VAR_DCDC, otherwise it was sink. And at the same time, the PAD's D+ & D- was connected to a USB-DISK which was powered by the EVM.

Results:

1) When the EVM was switched from sink to source, the EVM started charging the PAD, and the USB-DISK would be normally recognized by the PAD without disconnection.

2) When the EVM was switched from source to sink, the EVM stop charging the PAD. However, it showed that the USB-DISK was disconnected, and it was re-identified after a few seconds.

Question:

Why did the USB signal disconnect when the EVM switched? Which parameters of TPS65987 can be configured to ensure that the USB is not disconnected?

  • Hi,

PD controller do not control DP/DM lines. I can see EVM supplying 5V to USB block. USB disconnect may be caused by this power interruption, please check.

    Thanks
