TCA9406: Ambient temperature of MTBF / FIT

Part Number: TCA9406
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5175,

Hi team,

I got the information, but for example, for this part TCA9406YZPR I can't understand what is the ambient temperature at stress.

It looks to me that the Usage Temperature is the Junction Temperature at normal operation (Tja), Test Temperature is the Junction Temperature during Stress test, but I can't find the Ambient Temperature during stress.

However I found this information on the website of other manufacturers, and given that I'm building a dataset, I should gather consistent data.

  • Hey Tom,

This device is is considered low power and typically the ambient temperature during operation is very close to the junction temperature. I wouldn't expect more than a difference of 1C or 2 C between junction and ambient for this device. You can typically apply this assumption to I2C switches, buffers, translators.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi Bobby,

    Thank you for your reply.
Could you give me some devices that have Ambient Temperature of stress test?
I found that even some high power device, such like LM5175, don’t have the Ambient Temperature of FIT/MTBF.

  • Hey Tom,

For specific devices like the LM device you will likely need to make another e2e post and ask. The way the system works is, the threads will be assigned to the engineer who is responsible for the device of the thread. So when you made the post about the TCA9406, the thread was assigned to me as I am the main applications engineer supporting the TCA9406 devices (I2C devices). For the LM device, I do not know as I don't specialize on those kind of devices.
