TPS65987EVM: PD negotiation is failed when using short Type-C cable

Hi Team,

My customer is evaluating PD behavior with TPS65987EVM.
He set TPS65987EVM source only and tests charge operation to connect to note PC that supports USB PD.
 
However the result is different between long cable and short cable as the following.
--------------------------------
100cm USB Type-C cable: TPS65987EVM can charge note PC (no ploblem)
50cm USB Type-C cable: TPS65987EVM cannot charge note PC
--------------------------------

It seems PD negotiation is failed when using short (50cm) cable..
Do you have heard same issue?

    According to your description, it seems that the issue is from 50cm cable. Can you confirm that the 50cm cable is good ?you can try to use the 50cm cable with TPS65987EVM to charge a type-c mobile phone, or use two TPS65987EVM (one DFP, one UFP ) to verify whether this cable is OK.

    Thank you for your reply.

    My customer tested with two 50cm USB Type-C cable (ELECOM, generic), the result is the same. TPS65987EVM cannot charge note PC.

    He also tested with AC adapters (Anker, ELECOM) which is on the market instead of TPS65987EVM, these can charge note PC (no ploblem) even if 50 cm cable is used. 
    Do you have an idea how to improve the situation?

    Can you help get the PD log of the two situation :

    1. 50cm cable with TPS65987EVM charge note PC

    2. 50cm cable with AC adapter charge note PC

    And also, Let them use GUI debug mode to get the PD state machine trace of below two situation:

    1. 50cm cable with TPS65987EVM charge note PC

    2. 1m cable with TPS65987EVM charge note PC

    I also face type-C similar issues in USB Cameras during enumeration. Some manufacturer cables work fine other manufacturer cables not working issue. This might be because of connection issue. Can you please try to connect two orientations in the EVM and confirm?

    Under the influence of COVID-19, I heard my customer is retricted to go to the office.
    I heard he can get PD log and state machine trace sometimes this week.
    I will update when I get the result.
