DS280DF810EVM: EVM re-design question about USB2ANY mcu bin file

Part Number: DS280DF810EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS280DF810, USB2ANY, SIGCONARCHITECT, MSP430F5529

Hi Sir,

We have the plan to re-design the DS280DF810EVM for QSFP28 connector.

I review the schematic and  found  there is 1 MCU "MSP430" on the board.

It is the USB to SMBus interface  and the   "SigCon Architect software" need to connect  to it.

Due to we want to use SigCon S/W to control DS280DF810 so we want to confirm :

whether there is no need any coding we can use it after the power up and release the reset.

If we need extra coding  where I can  download the bin file of the MCU?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

  • Hi Darren,

It is highly possible that you would need to optimize DS280DF810 register settings for your application. Therefor your FPGA or ASIC should be able to communicate through SMBus register to setup different register settings of the device. Please refer to the DS280DF810 programming guide for detailed register settings.

Additionally during your product development you can use SigconArchitect GUI to control and bring up the device independent of your FPGA or ASIC. In this case, you can use TI USB2ANY box and run this GUI to control the device. On your board you should have a header for SDA, SCL, and GND signals so USB2ANY box can control these signals directly.

  • Hi Nasser,

    Thanks for your feedback.

we want  to develop the evaluation board which there is one MCU "MSP430F5529" on the board.

The evaluation board is similar to your reference design "DS280DF810EVM" but the connector is QSFP28.

So we want to know where I can download the firmware (*.hex or *.bin) we can program this MCU.

  • Hi Darren,

We always use Ti USB2ANY GUI to initialize MSP430. All you have to do is to download this GUI and it automatically recognizes MSP430 and it gets initialized.

Then DS280DF810 updater is used to install GUI for this device in SigconArchitect environment.
