TVS1401: Leakage current quetsion

Part Number: TVS1401

Hi Team,

My customer is considering use TVS1401 in PLC AI application, the leakage current will affect the system's accuracy. We can find the leakage current plot at 14V reverse working voltage but in real operation the working voltage over the TVS is under about 4V.

My customer wants to know if there is a leakage current plot with the working voltage is 4V? The leakage current should be more less, right?

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Vincent,

For this device we do not have a table that displays the above information for the with a 4V working voltage, but you are correct. With a lower working voltage the leakage current would also decrease. For the TVS1401 the leakage current at 4V would in the pA range.

I would like to ask, why was the TVS1401 chosen for this 4V application?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Andy,

Below is the front end diagram of RTD application with ratiometric topology, so in normal operation condition the max. voltage over TVS is about 4V and I want to know the TVS leakage current is for calculating system accuracy.

Customer doesn't want to use large size resistor for RP1 so we chose TVS1401, and use R1 and ADC internal protection diode to absorb rest of overstress energy.

    Thanks a lot.
