TPS65986: USB-C and eDP at the same time

Part Number: TPS65986

Hi, I'm looking for a chip or set of chips that can help me support both a USB-C data connection for a camera and display port video at the same time.  The camera would be an output and the displays an input.  I need two displays running at 1080p 60hz.

Currently I drive our displays on our production devices with the TI SN65DSI83. If possible I'd like to still interface to that.

Thank you.

  • Hello Eric,

I recommend you use the TPS65987D as your PD controller instead. However, all the PD controller does is negotiate a Type-C PD contract between the two connected devices, negotiate an alternate mode such as display port. It does not touch the super speed data lines, except for potentially controlling a mux or redriver to connect the correct data lines depending on the polarity.
