THVD1500: can THVD1500 work when power as 3.3V and what about the power consumption difference with 3.3V or 5V power supply?

Part Number: THVD1500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THVD2450, THVD1410, THVD1419, THVD1450

Hi,

customer found the THVD1500 can also work at VCC=3.3V. does it make sense?

they also found there is power consumption difference among VCC=3.3V or 5V.

485 Baud rate=9600.

they found the power consumption of 3.3V is lower than 5V.  did you see that and can you explain to me?

thank you!

Best regards

Yuan

  • Yuan,

It's an interesting finding. THVD1500 is designed to work with 5V supply only. However the device might function with 3.3V supply but not meet all the specification in the datasheet. What's the test condition when the customer measured the power consumption? In general the charging energy is less with lower supply. You can refer to Figure 6 on page 8 of the datasheet of THVD2450 for the power consumption under different voltages.

For the true device working with 3.3V to 5V, please refer to this post. THVD1410, THVD1419, THVD1450, THVD2450 all support it.
