TFP401A: TFP401A with 18-BIT RESOLUTION Display

Part Number: TFP401A

Hi,

We have an instrument with a 18 bit resolution LCD ET057090DHU (Parallel RGB666 interface )

As the current driver is going to obsolete soon, we try to change it to use HDMI port connect to TFP401A then to the display.

As TFP401A has 24 bits output and the LCD has 18 bits, the connection is set as below:

TFP401A  R2-R7  connect to  LCD  R0 to R5

TFP401A  G2-G7  connect to  LCD  G0 to G5

TFP401A  B2-B7   connect to  LCD  B0 to B5

With the above connection, the picture quality is not as good as the original one.

From my understanding, TFP401A decode HDMI to 24 bit resolution, if the bit0 and bit1 are not connected, there are definitely will have some information missing.

Could you please let me know if this is the best we can get? Is there any way to make use of  bit0 and bit1 to improve the picture's quality?

Thanks and regards,

Jenny
