TPS65987D: TPS65987D connect query

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD6S300,

My customer want to know how to connect schematic, when use TYPE-C charge and USB 2.0 transmission.

After the USB2.0 signal on the ype-c interface is protected by the TPD6S300,

it is simultaneously received to the TPS65987D and USB host (as shown in the figure below), is it correct?

The type-c adapter input supports a variety of voltages 5V/9V/12V/20V, may the TPS65987D be automatically identified, or it needs to be configured,  flash programming.

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

Star

  • Hello Star,

Yes, having the USB2 signals go to both the TPS65987D and USB host is correct. However, when you create your PCB, make sure that the trace going to the TPS65987D is not very long. The connection to the TPS65987D is considered a stub, so make sure that the stub is not very long or it will interfere with the signal integrity of the USB2 lines.

For your other question, yes you will need to use the GUI to create custom configuration file for your system. On the TPS65987EVM page, there are helpful tutorials to get you started
