TCAN1051V-Q1: TCAN1051V-Q1 support low power mode

Part Number: TCAN1051V-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1042V-Q1

Hi Support team

does TCAN1051V-Q1 supporting low power mode?

is this part could adopted w/ ST SPC528B60E1  series MCU?

  • Red,

The TCAN1051V-Q1 has a separate mode from normal called silent mode where the transmitter is disabled but the receiver is enabled. The current consumption in this mode is the same as normal mode with a recessive bus level, so it's not considered a low-power mode.

The TCAN1042V-Q1 has the same pinout as TCAN1051V-Q1 except pin 8 controls the standby function. The standby mode on TCAN1042V-Q1 disables both the transmitter and receiver on the CAN transceiver, dropping the power consumption significantly. This would be the low-power mode you're looking for on the 8-pin CAN transceiver.

I'm not familiar with the ST MCU you mentioned, but if it has the ability to drive CAN frames, it will be able to work with our CAN transceivers.

    Regards,
