TPS65988: Power Role Swap

Hi,

We are implementing a USB PD scheme as shown in below:

Present state: No Charger connected, Port 2 sink power from battery powered device.

Event: External charger connected.

Action: Port 2 must change its role from sink to source.

Can the power role swap on port 2 be initiated by the PD controller on a successful PDO negotiation at Port 1?

Can this be achieved without the intervention of the processor?

Hi Akash,

Yes, its doable w/o an EC using App Config GPIO Event. Please refer -https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva838/slva838.pdf?ts=1592837515485&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F . Use PDO negotiation at Port 1 event to trigger an O/P GPIO and wire this GPIO to trigger App Config GPIO event.
