TPS65988: Total FRS implementation time

Part Number: TPS65988

Hi,

We are trying to implement a USB PD scheme as shown below:

Present state: Charger connected, the system is sourcing power at Port 2

Event: Charger detached

Action: The port 2 should swap role from source to sink

1) It is planned to implement the above use case, by initiating a FRS event using GPIO event (Is this the right way?). On the other hand, can the FRS be initiated internally within the PD on a plug detach event?

2) During the role sway, the system will be void of power. To maintain the operation, sufficient bulk capacitors are planned to be added. But to calculate the duration for which the capacitors should power the system, the exact time of the entire role swap process is required.

Though the datasheet mentions FRS execution time as 150us, the application note SLVAE20 shows a total execution time of around 125ms, which is too long.

Can this value be confirmed?
