TPS65982: Billboard function
Part Number: TPS65982BB
My customer will start 988/TR project and we see 988BB is ready now. Does 988BB need external flash to store its FW? If yes, which tool is used for 988BB? Thanks for your response.

Please check the link below.
When you open up the Tapex Creek template you will see the configurable 982BB strings.
Please follow the Tapex Creek design for the connections between the TPS65982BB and TPS65988.

I can't enter your link and can't see your pic. I think you're asking me to enter Thunderbolt Device Design Resources in mySecure software and open tapex creek reference design in 988 GUI right?
My question is: does tps65982BB need its own SPI flash? If yes, which GUI is used for 982BB to build it? Or no flash is necessary for 982BB?
In reply to Gary Teng:
Can I know if TPS65988BB need it's own bin/Flash?
My customer has 982BB sample already and will assemble their board immediately. Can we know is 982BB need its own bin or not? Thanks.
The 982BB needs FW to function. The 982BB can have its own flash or it can share it with the TPS65988DJ in the case of the Tapex Creek Thunderbolt Reference design.
1. If customer use tapex cheek TBT reference design, they can leave their flash and use 988DJ's bin/fw to set up its function right?
2. What's the GUI if 982BB have to be programmed alone?
Thanks for your quickly response.
It is best to have the 988DJ boot the 982BB as in the reference design. The GUI tool will merge the two binaries for you.
There is not a configurable GUI for the 982BB. Only a standalone image that can be programmed. I advise against this since you are using the Thunderbol Reference Design.
