TPS65987D: Device acting as Legacy Source

Hello,

My customer's TPS65987D is acting as a legacy source, and I'm not sure why. The only reference I see to this in the TRM are the 0x1A status register 25:24. Here's what our GUI shows for that:

In the TRM it looks like this is controlled by Port Control register 0x29 3:2, but ours is set to normal PD behavior:

What else could be causing this?

Is it booting up properly? Could you check FW version and register dump?

It seems to be booting up properly.

Firmware version is f707.10.08

Hello Michael,

Please check the following,

PD controller will act as a Legacy source if the far-end device is Type-C only sink. So, check if the far end device is PD capable. Could you connect 87/88 EVM to this device and check the behavior?
If the far end device is PD capable, test the pjt file on EVM to check whether its board specific issue.
Please capture PD trance and share the same.
